Looking for Howard County summer camps?! At Here We Grow Stables and Agriculture Learning Center, we are already dreaming of long summer days on the farm. While it might still be chilly outside, the countdown to the best season of the year has officially begun!
In just one month, we will be announcing our full 2026 schedule for our Howard County summer camps. Last year was a monumental success, and we can’t wait to welcome returning friends and new faces back to West Friendship.
A Look Back: Why Last Summer Was a Huge Success
Last summer was our favorite one yet! Our farm was buzzing with energy as children traded their tablets for pitchforks and saddles. We saw campers grow in confidence, whether they were conquering their first solo trot or learning the responsibility of feeding our mini Highland cows.
The feedback from our community was overwhelming. Parents loved seeing their children disconnect from screens and reconnect with nature, while campers made lifelong memories (and a few four-legged best friends).
Our Signature Camp Experiences
We take pride in offering diverse programs that cater to every child’s interests. Here is a look at the camps that made last year so special:
Horseback Riding Camp

Our horseback riding camp is a premier choice for Howard County summer camps. Designed for all skill levels, this camp goes beyond just sitting in a saddle. Campers learn:
-
Horsemanship: Essential skills like grooming, tacking, and understanding horse behavior.
-
Riding Skills: Daily lessons tailored to the rider’s experience to build balance and confidence.
-
Barn Management: What it truly takes to care for these majestic animals.
Farm Camp

For the little explorers who want to experience every inch of farm life, our Farm Camp is a dream come true. From mini cows and donkeys to alpacas and bunnies, the “Animal of the Week” keeps things exciting. Highlights include:
-
Agricultural Learning: Hands-on time in the greenhouse and learning sustainable farming.
-
Farm-to-Table Fun: Collecting eggs, milking goats, and prepping products for our farm stand.
-
Outdoor Adventures: Kayaking and fishing on the pond, plus our famous giant inflatable water slides to beat the Maryland heat!
How to Prepare for the Upcoming Announcement
With registration opening next month, these spots will fill up fast! Here are three tips to ensure you’re ready:
-
Mark Your Calendar: Set a reminder for mid-February. We will be sending out the official dates and registration links via our newsletter and social media.
-
Talk to Your Camper: Does your child want to focus on riding, or are they excited about the “Set Up Shop” workshop in Farm Camp? Deciding on their interests now will make the registration process a breeze.
-
Check Your Gear: Start thinking about the essentials—closed-toe shoes are a must for the barn, and you’ll want plenty of sunscreen and a reusable water bottle ready for those sunny Howard County days.
We are so proud to be a staple for Howard County summer camps and can’t wait to grow with you this summer. Stay tuned—big things are coming to the farm!
